Fine Art Background

In addition to being a graphic designer, I have been a gallery-based visual artist for over 20 years.

I've exhibited at Propeller Gallery, Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, The Gladstone Hotel, and The Ontario Science Centre, among others.

Commissioned work

Coach House Books inquired about using one of my artwork images for a book cover. I responded with a couple of custom mixed-media images to go with the theme, and they chose this one.

Collections

My work is also in a number of private and public collections.

What this all means for you:

While it's wonderful for my ego to reflect on my earlier successes, for you it means benefiting from these years of experience. I enjoy pushing myself to come up with fresh but efficient ways to graphically communicate your information and ideas.  

Icons 

Icons can be challenging. When done well, they appear obvious; when done poorly, they cause confusion. I still need to use a Legend on occasion, but I try to keep them as language-free as possible.

This is a combination of sourced and customised icons*, digital illustration, and hand-drawn elements.

The photographs for your project won't have a watermark, of course; they are only used to stop the theft of my work and that of the project or commissioning party with which it is related.

* icons are sourced and licensed from databases such as Flaticon. References may be needed at the end of yor report or paper depending on the 3rd party.

I am JMAD^'s sole proprietor and designer. I have a BfA from OCAD, a Studio Arts diploma from DVSA, and I have over 20 years of experience working in graphic design.

Although this website is intended to promote my skills and experience working with academic information, I am available for other graphic design and art projects. If you see skills here that can help you with a personal or business project, please contact me.
